Design
I personally like it a lot, 4384FM is one of the few navigators on our market that has simple design and flat, straight sides.
Performance
GoClever Navigator 4384FM is proud with its powerful (for such product) processor and separate DSP, that helps him a lot. Of course we can share only our subjective impressions, bur the overall feeling was quite positive, the navigator worked fast and smooth with both navigation and multimedia tasks. Definitely the goclever device is a new generation of GPS navigator and interaction with it is pleasurable, there is no annoying waiting like the one with its older brothers or other devices that aren’t created with the solely GPS navigation in mind. Quite predictable the GPS chipset is SiRF Star III, i.e. it depends on latest generation of GPS hardware. The only thing we found missing here was the connector for external GPS antenna, that honestly speaking is a bit of a problem. Interestingly enough in the product description book a photo of another model is displayed, a model that has a antenna connector input marked on top of it, Chinese guys are getting sloppy I’d say. As for the battery life ??“ it lasts in GPS for about one hour, but that’s not a problem since I assume you are aware of the power requirements of the GPS systems and the fact that after all they are meant to be powered from the car battery.
Screen
GoClever Navigator 4384FM has one of the biggest screens in its class ??“ 4.3???. Being of good quality and bright enough it provides good view even in sunny weather(myvu).
Multimedia features
Like many of its competitors in recent days, this product offers the capability to play MP3 and video files, text viewing, picture viewing, mediocre games and integrated FM transmitter. Those aren’t all that interesting functions, it can perform them, decently, so there isn’t much more to be said. Except for the last of them ??“ the FM transmitter. It is indeed quite handy ??“ the integrated speaker is as expected too weak, being able to run the sound through the car radio is most welcome. Thing is, the FM transmitter is weak too, its also moody and a lot of poking around through frequencies is needed in order to get rid of the annoying static interference and sudden signal drops.
Navigational software
There is great confusion about this paragraph. On every picture in online stores and similar places the software shown on the screen of 4384FM appears to be iGo. Yet there is no solid straightforward announcement that indeed it is. Our device came with another software, one that has nothing in common with iGo. Sure, there was map of Europe and navigation in Bulgarian, but without any hesitation I choose to call this software – pure garbage. Not enough functions, ugly and not intuitional at all. Covers the basics… and nothing more. Honestly, since your paying for the software too getting stuck with such garbage is derisively to say the least, even more so, knowing full well that competitors use at least iGo 7. That raises an interesting question though – is it possible that only our device was using it, did we just had an older revision or internet shops are lying in our faces by using incorrect pictures? My advice is – when buying that device you simply must check exactly what software it comes with.
